Google AI Warning

On December 15 2025 Google will begin feeding the contents of your email to its AI engine to train it. This so called feature is opt-out, which means it is going to happen unless you turn it off.

What is the Concern?

Artificial Intelligence is in its infancy. It hallucinates. It makes mistakes. It refers to information it should not; information it supposedly was restricted from using. It is configured by people whose personal and political motivations may not be aligned with yours.

Your information will now be used to train Google’s AI. Who knows how and when your data, or that of your customers, may show up? If you use GMail for business the data of your clients is at risk as well. Everything in your email including any attachments will be used.

What Can Be Done About It?

There is a way to turn this off, but it must be done December 15th. You can opt out of having your information used, but there is no way to request removal of information already used. Therefore, if you are not comfortable with what Google is about to do, you must act immediately.
